Aims to facilitate the protection of all adults and children with learning disabilities who are vulnerable to abuse. Provides information and advice service including training and conferences. Produces a range of publications.
Helps children and young adults who have suffered abuse, neglect and deprivation. Provides residential therapeutic homes and a variety of non-residential and community based services where the care, emotional health, and educational needs of each child is met, often for the first time in their lives.
Telephone helpline for children and young people providing confidential counselling for any child with any problem, 24 hours a day. Where a child is in danger, ChildLine works with other helping agencies to ensure the child's protection.
Aims to prevent the abuse of children through education programmes involving parents and teachers. Provide a range of booklets, training guides, posters, and videos on child safety issues. National training programme includes assertiveness training for children who are being bullied, conferences and research.
The NSPCC has over 120 Child Protection Teams throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who work with children and families to help them overcome the effects of emotional, physical, sexual abuse and neglect, and to prevent further abuse from happening. The NSPCC conducts special investigations into abuse, assessment and therapy work, drop in centres for families and preventive programmes and local training and consultancy for those working with abused children.
Respond works with people with learning disabilities who have experience significant trauma in their lives. We specialise in working with the effects of sexual abuse, but also work with people whose problems are not necessarily sexual. We provide support, advice and training for families and professionals supporting people with learning disabilities who have experienced trauma. Also work with parents with learning disabilities, and run a Young People's Services, and Elder's Project and a bereavement counselling service. We work with perpetrators of sexual abuse who themselves have learning disabilities. Training courses for organisations can be delivered in house and tailor-made to organisations' needs.
Counselling, support, advice and information to women and girls facing rape and other violence. Campaigning for resources for prevention and recovery from assault, and for changes to the legal system. Publications (including on audio tape).
