Concerned with the rights of people with learning disabilities including the means to enhance their potential for development. Promotes mutual support and co-operation among parents and others responsible for the welfare of people with learning disabilities, as well as research into the causes, treatment and management of learning disability. Encourages the provision of services and the participation of people with learning disabilities in decisions which affect them.

Advise families with children in public care, involved in child protection procedures or receiving family support services. Train and advise social workers, lawyers and other professionals about family and childcare law and good practice.
