DLF's summary:
Reading machine used with an IBM compatible computer (modified with the appropriate hardware card) to produce a magnified screen image. Text to be scanned is placed face downwards on the scanner and a magnified image from 2 to 60 times normal image appears on the screen. Text can be scanned widthways or lengthways to accommodate portrait and landscape pages of text. Also scans text printed on a dot matrix printer. Two scanners are available; the model 25 and model 35, the model 35 can be used to scan books and other bound material. System can include an automatic document feeder, the Dectalk speech synthesiser for a spoken output (text is spoken as it is scanned) or a tactile Braille display.
