Braille keyboards

These are computer keyboards with Braille keys replacing the traditional QWERTY keyboard keys. A few of the products are combined Braille keyboards and Braille displays.

Some Braille keyboards can type 'grade 2 Braille'. This is a form of shorthand in which groups of letters can be combined into a single Braille cell (whereas grade 1 Braille represents each print character as one Braille cell). Many experienced Braille users read and write with grade 2 Braille.

Also see products in the 'Note takers with a Braille keyboard' section as these can often be connected to a computer and used as a Braille keyboard.
